from the link get the product you will see hsqldb.jar file then download this db editor (it is also free :) )
http://www.codework.com/dbvis/product.html then add driver from file or options menu create your db. you can also run "hsqldb " as a db server. it is very simple and well performed db.
and you can also use the database which is in opeonoffice programme. www.openoffice.org
